FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHICH CARS ARE SUPPORTED?

Currently supported for live ECU data are the following vehicles:

Volvo C30 | S40 | V50 T5

If your car is not listed join us on Discord. The app can be adjusted for any make and model but it needs other enthusiasts to do the heavy lifting and collect the codes.

How difficult is the installation?

Installing the app is quiet simple. Download the Installer from the release and you will be guided through the setup. Implementing the Raspberry into a car is another topic and requires certain skills and knowledge. The hardware is for research purposes only and permanently installing 3rd party hardware in a vehicle should be done by professionals. That being said, a guide on the installation process and pinouts for the HAT can be found on the official Github page but using the guide or the hardware provided through this page is entirely at your own risk!

What do I need besides the Raspberry and the HAT?

The package only includes the HAT and some accessories like fuses and jumpers. On top of that you will need a suitable touchscreen, wires for power / CAN / Serial connection etc. The connectors on the HAT are of the type “Molex Mini-Fit Jr.” and are widely available.

HOW DOES CARPLAY / ANDROID AUTO WORK?

In order to use Apple CarPlay or AndroidAuto you will need to connect a “CarlinKit” Dongle to the USB port of your RaspberryPi. The Dongle features the necessary hardware to connect to your phone. You can then launch it from within the app. More infos can be found on the Github repository.

Can I use this In my BMW / Audi / … ?

Yes! And I highly encourage you to get in contact via Discord if that is your plan. The only real challenge is obtaining CAN Bus codes but everything else is the same. Even the design of the Interface could be adjusted. So please get in touch!
